Passive House - February 2, 2012

Passive houses are airtight buildings that use heat from appliances and even the occupants’ bodies for warmth. They have a high level of insulation, are oriented to maximize winter sun and use a heat exchanger to warm outside air that circulates throughout. The result is a house that needs little or no extra energy for heating, even in very cold climates.

The Houses will have the Energy benefits of Solar Panels, LED Lighting, Cycle Storage and designed in accordance with Lifetime Homes.

The houses are designed with a modern palette of finishes such as Dark Grey Windows, Natural Stone / Slate Cladding Externally and Internally with benefits of an Open Plan Design.

Outbuilding Conversion Scheme – Conwy, North Wales - January 6, 2012

BR Architecture was engaged by a private client to design and secure Planning Approval for a Luxury Barn Conversion Scheme in an idyllic part of the Conwy Valley.

The Site benefits from a Courtyard theme with Outbuildings Converted into 3 Dwellings.

The existing Farm House has been Extended and Re-Furbished.

The External Finishes have been kept to a Traditional Palette of Welsh Slate and Oak Frame Windows and Doors.

Large Luxury New Build House, Colwyn Bay, North Wales - November 10, 2011

BR Architecture was engaged by a Private Client to Design a Large Luxury Family Home for a Replacement Dwelling.

New Build Modern House, Llandudno Bay, North Wales -

BR Architecture was engaged by a Private Client to design a small Contemporary Open/Plan Living House Design with Stunning Views over Llandudno Bay.

Due to the Steep Topography of the Site and the close proximity of the Existing Trees, the Design encompassed a Low Impact Mono pitch roof design to nestle into the Landscape.

The Design incorporates Sustainable Sourced Materials such as Natural Welsh Stone, Western Red Cedar Timber Cladding, Zinc Cladding and Roof Covering.

The Windows and Doors are Black Powder Coated Aluminium Triple Glazed Windows to give stunning clean lines, with a softened Oak Frame Entrance Porch.

Theatre Colwyn Refurbishment – Complete - September 23, 2011

BR Architecture designed the Refurbishment to Theatre Colwyn in Colwyn Bay for Conwy County Borough Council.

We worked closely with CCBC Conservation Department to achieve a high quality finish.

Large Extension to House in Alderley Edge, Cheshire -

BR Architecture was commissioned by a Luxury Property Developer working in the Cheshire Area to design a Large 2 Storey Extension on a Large House in Alderley Edge.

The extension consisted of a Sun Room, Large Family Room on the Ground Floor with a Gym and Dressing Room on the First Floor.

Pre-Application Meeting with Planning & Conservation was Positive.

Modern / Contemporary Extension on Old Cottage – Gwynedd - August 5, 2011

BR Architecture was approached by a private client to undertake a design for a very contemporary link extension to their old cottage.

The cottage was only 1 bedroom with a small kitchen and living / dining area.

The new extension is an open-plan spacious living design taking into account the amazing views of the Menai Straits.

BR Architecture was engaged by a Private Client to design a Modern / Contemporary Luxury House with amazing views over Llandudno Bay.

The Design incorporates Renewable Energy Sources such as Solar/PV Water Heating, Ground or Air Source Heating, Triple Glazing, Very High Thermal Insulation, Passive Solar Heating with large glazed areas, Rainwater Harvesting, Low Energy Lighting, Reduced Water Consumption, Passive Stack Effect for Natural Ventilation, Open Plan Living Area at First Floor to take into account amazing views.

Works completed on a major refurb and Extension – Llandudno -

BR Architecture was engaged by a repeat client to refurb their new house. The house was very dated inside. BR Architecture re-configured the internal spaces and added a Master Bedroom and En-suite Extension. The window in the Living area was increased to gain the maximum sea view. The house is on the exclusive Llys Helig Drive, Llandudno



Planning Application submitted for New Build Doctors & Dentist – North Wales - March 10, 2011

BR Architecture has designed a replacement New Build Doctors & Dentist with 6no. Residential Apartments above to a form a Mixed Use Development.

The design is a mixture of Contemporary Design with Traditional Roofscapes to compliment the adjoining buildings.

The Apartments have balconies with sea views and comply with the Code for Sustainable Homes (Level 3)
